Upon investigation, it turned out that the sudden death of travel writer Fabio - the facebook crush of many, whose colorful comments limned his experience better than the pictures themselves did -was not due to lead poisoning, but due to his triskaidekaphobia, for the fatal heart attack came when he realized he had been doodling with and biting, all this time, a #13 pencil, turning the death into a vis major, much to the relief of the embattled pencil-maker. I loved looking at Harriet's photo album, her face on my screen limned over and over in pixels, but soon I progressed from Facebook crush to following her around in person, ascribing her lack of interest in me to triskaidekaphobia (I have 13 fingers); eventually I lost my job because our employer didn't see the restraining order as vis major in my failure to show up for work. Having met after their airline declared the weather a vis major, Joe friended Stu online, limning in his mind a future life together for them to share; he finally got over his Facebook crush on him, however, as his triskaidekaphobia took over when he realized that Stu had precisely thirteen photos in his album. Francine and I met in an online group for triskaidekaphobes (cozy, it never grew beyond twelve members) -- what started as a Facebook crush progressed into a Facebook engagement, until a service outage became the vis major that helped us realize the foolishness of it, prompting me to shed old fears and limn my disillusionment with the relationship in a series of thirteen status updates.
