Attempts to resolve the Quandary:

When I reproached the comptroller of petty cash for his stiff-necked attitude in rejecting my very modest travel expenses he strongly denied nuchal rigidity, lamented my profligacy, and implored me to eschew use of public transport while I still had use of shanks' pony. (by Bud Myte)

Much as Evelyn would have liked to give in to hysterical weeping, she was able to eschew lament and opt instead for icy, eviscerating rage directed against Mr. Blankfein (the comptroller in the employee pension office of the accounting department, who had apparently been dicking around with her retirement account for his own personal gain), coming up behind him and plunging her letter opener downward with enviable precision between his nuchal and sagittal crests so forcefully that it went all the way through his head and emerged (somewhat notched and pitted, tra la!) just beside his left nostril. This was no time to eschew expense, as though some comptroller should decide on the advisability of surgery - the little boy, despite his lack of medical insurance, needed to have his insidious nuchal growth removed immediately or else he would join his late lamented brother, a recent victim of Republican intransigence. The Dutch ghetto was the only permitted European enclave in Japan in 1720 and Franz was the proud comptroller for the Dutch East India Company in this exotic heathen land but when he fell under its spell and found himself seduced, not by a Geisha, which would have been correctable, but by the Daimyo’s daughter there was no way to eschew disaster and to the great lament of all concerned, particularly Franz, he had seen her nucha un-chaperoned and lost his head for a very unsatisfying glimpse… of her neck. Therapeutic massage is supposed to be an employee benefit at Plexitar, but our stingy comptroller has set the budget so low that we can only afford the most lamentably inexperienced masseurs, who can't distinguish nucha from tailbone, but always manage to eschew the body parts that need attention most.
