As the board sat somberly staring at an Ishikawa diagram that analyzed the car manufacturer's recent woes, one of the executives got up to to comment on the causes: "The leakage of hypnagogic gas inside the vehicle, and the engineers' omission of the brake-fluid container's tare, are less shocking to me than the leakage of the holes in our quality control to the likes of Fleet Street". It was midway between waking and sleeping that he finally understood the connection between the tare weight of the company's new pick-up truck and its dangerous tendency to fishtail when loaded unevenly, when he had a hypnagogic vision of a fish skeleton (he had been boning trout that very morning!) resolving itself into an Ishikawa diagram which, by breaking down the problem in an entirely new way, immediately suggested a solution, and he rejoiced that they could now be well on their way to "Ricardo" becoming a metonym for "pick-up truck" as "Fleet Street" is for "the British press". When the editors of a Fleet Street rag retained a quality control expert to help them find the root cause of their frequent journalistic errors, they treated him to a customary liquid lunch where, with their boisterous encouragement, the former teetotaler six times drained his mug to its tare weight, falling into a hypnagogia so deep that when he finally tried to illustrate his professional conclusions, the best he could draw was a fishbone, wretchedly deformed and barely recognizable as an Ishikawa diagram. It was a horrible day for The Fleet Street Tattler’s senior editor when he was forced to accept the publishers nephew as a reporter and, out of desperation to be rid of him, sent him to cover what was clearly going to be a mind numbingly dull lecture on the use of the Ishikawa Diagram in determining faulty tare weights in the world wide shipping of produce; but it proved so exceptionally soporific it produced hypnagogic hallucinations of such vividity that the young man was dragged naked from the lecture declaring the divinity of L. Ron Hubbard and neither he nor the senior editor were ever heard form again. (by gumo420)

When it was leaked that a conventicle of somnolent, gin-soaked horoscope hawkers in tabloid Fleet Street had (nem con) expediently discarded their astrological charts in favour of hypnagogic rune casting, their heresiarchy was cheerfully exposed the following Monday by Page 3's shapely Virginia - just 18, celestial tits - ambilevously burlesquing both tasseomancy (shaken, not stirred) and kittenish cogitation on the tare weight of her delinquent bra, thereby perhaps uncannily (indeed fishily) foreseeing the recondite reductionism of the now indispensable Ishikawa diagram.
