Attempts to resolve the Quandary:

In the vast inane of the California high desert there is a greasy spoon diner, just off Route 66, of such mythic reputation that gastronomes from around the world brave the bedlam of the raucous clientele to savor the epiphanous delights of Burt’s Bakersfield Burger Joint and, though many arrive reeking of skepticism, they quickly fall under the spell of his 'Blue Cheese and Onion Two-Hander' and atonement is swift and certain. When I teased him for spouting vacuous inanities about the provender thrust before us amid the convivial bedlam of my local truckers' eatery, he sadly declared (while admonishing my
tautology) that, although a fastidious gastronome, he felt compelled on this one occasion to suffer and appraise atrocious fast food in due atonement for his recent bestowal of three Michelin stars upon a famous restaurant closed two days later after a major salmonella outbreak. (by Et Seqq)

Mrs. Keenan held her hands to her ears theatrically to convey her disapproval of the bedlam emanating from the private dining room behind the bar where the South Ardmore Gastronomic Club was well into hour three of its fortnightly overdose of food and drink (probably mostly the latter, she inferred from their inane conversation, fragments of old Army songs, and a certain impropriety in their interaction with the waitress, for all of which they would most certainly atone the next day on the early shift at the boiler factory).
