Delirious from overwork, the lone janitor of the Garden of Eden thought he spotted a true paradise, in which there were no snakes to dodge or chewed apple cores to sweep up, but when this heavenly mirage vanished, giving way to the sight of another decaying Granny Smith, he decided to change allegiance, to become a turncoat, seeking employment in the rival kingdom below, where he lived and worked happily, considering his transition complete, until the afterclap: a lawsuit from his former employer alleging he had violated the terms of the non-compete agreement.

One repercussion of Jake's decision to cast his lot with the Nav'i and permanently enter the Pandoran Garden of Eden was that his CO came to hate him and judged him a turncoat who had betrayed his people, although far worse afterclaps of Jake's choice were the deaths of Trudy and Dr. Augustine (even though the latter at least discovered that Eywa was real, not a mirage or delusion). 'Oooh, you are awful,' simpered Eve, glad-eyeing the emergent serpent, 'but I do like you,' and as she succumbed to wily temptation little did she know that the Garden of Eden would so soon appear but a shimmering mirage, when she and her helpmeet closed from without the sorrowing gate, two stitchless turncoats as yet deaf to the resounding afterclap of transgression. When the seer returned to his hut in the unspoiled beauty of the Garden of Eden, he saw his turncoat wife admiring a naked stranger, whom he cursed ('May your penis fall off'), not anticipating the traumatic afterclap of the curse, in which the stranger's genitals (the linga) would wreak havoc on the Three Worlds, for the seer had failed to see - past the mirage of the intruder - that it was Lord Shiva himself who had come to test his disciple.
