As if under the influence of a dark force that no one could fathom, the ballerina succumbed to a taxis, like that of a moth heading instinctually from darkness to light, away from her lover, a consummate balletomane who admired every bit of her grace, towards the unloving villain who never once made a single approbative gesture towards her performance, or even her presence. Since his recent amatory advances during the interval of 'Swan Lake' had patently gained her approbation - and with both of them ardent balletomanes - he simply could not fathom why, when later that evening he revealed the pink tutu beneath his cavalry twill, she accomplished what he could only describe as a swift taxis, scooting away from him 'couru', 'en arrière' and 'de voléé', as fast as her stubby little legs could carry her. Mr. Early, a fervent balletomane, his head in the clouds and walking on air as the result of a chance meeting with Gillian Murphy while they were both waiting for the Staten Island Ferry, inadvertently walked right off the end of the pier and drifted down a couple of fathoms (having too little body fat to float readily) before the taxis that would compel him back into the realm of his beloved took over and caused him to move awkwardly back to the surface, where he gazed with unruffled approbation at the departing ferry.
