"Save eclectic old worlds from the brink," From his ivory towers he'd think; Now a quaggy soft drink He serves dressed in pink; And they think he is missing a link. (by QuaQua)

On the soggy fringes of Quaggy Bog in an ivory tower yellowed by time, with one small window at the tippy top, there lived a very ancient and very learned gentleman (a bit out of touch with the common people perhaps, by virtue of his tower being so far elevated above their modest dwellings), whose groceries and sundries were sent up weekly in a basket on the end of a long rope, so that he had not only food and drink, but clean laundry, candles, nourishing tonics to keep in him in the pink of health, and an astonishingly eclectic collection of books so that he could learn everything there was to know in the whole world. When Lady Godiva absent-mindedly rode one of her seven chargers (for sourcing eclectically, she was currently stabling that many different breeds of stallion, and it being a Thursday she was straddling the handsome quagga) into a most quaggy, evil-smelling slough, the animal, aware of her extreme and sudden discomfiture (for her tegumentary pink was now maculated and begrimed with ordure), magically transformed itself into a mythological beast of quite different stripe - a veritable Pegasus, no less - that rose in the air to an ivory tower where, alighting decorously, she decided she would henceforth renounce gratuitous equine-abetted nudity and consecrate her days to effortless philosophising and other unfathomably jejune pursuits that the unlettered, from their lowly perspective, quite naturally regarded as nothing less than high-flown academic research. Come see the eclectic combination of gardening styles on display in my neighborhood: notice how the Joneses trim and fertilize their lawn, keeping it in the pink of lush green perfection through consistent manual labor, while the Bakers theorize about their lawn with the detachment of Ivory tower academics, peering at it from behind the tinted glass of their bedroom windows every so often as a break from Wittgenstein (yes, the Bakers are philosophers), wondering earnestly how to make the grass happy, but taking no concrete actions to preserve it besides sometimes shutting off the LawnCare102AX – the hyperactive automated sprinkler system installed by the previous property owners – when the soil gets too quaggy.
