I don't mean to criticize your father, Dear, certainly not through the veil of paralipsis, so I will not call his surprise appearance at the table yesterday intempestive, and I do concede that anyone who can fletcherize a cake with such thoroughness is deserving of some recognition, indeed a cheer if it had been a chewing competition, but now I fear I'm shilly-shallying in getting to my suggestion, which is that... well, my love, if we are to have a third date, might we opt for an undisclosed location?
