Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?

Attempts to resolve the Quandary:

It was easy to dismiss Maynard as a mere palooka when he came off the ropes flailing his fists in random directions, but a surprise jab to his opponent's philtrum, delivered with such aplomb that the man was upended, convinced me that he was the one I had been looking for: the Zeitgeist of boxing was changing, and his scattershot brilliance was enough that I vowed then and there to give up my study of psephology, that dry study of percentage points, and dedicate myself full-time to the flesh-and-blood world of the ring. Ask a psephologist who will win the contest, and he will tell you that the current Zeitgeist breeds such scornful cynicism among the electorate that any bungling palooka with a runny nose were as likely to succeed as were a seasoned campaigner who knows to keep a stiff upper lip and his philtrum dry. It was a right hook to the philtrum that brought Rocky Schmaltziano's boxing career down for the count; and in the years that followed, the palooka tried his hand at a number of second careers, including psephology (which he diligently pursued for eighteen months, until he realized it wasn't psychology), and inventing various kind of grills (which he eventually abandoned as a trade unsuited to a former boxer); and then, at last, the 60s arrived, and the wind changed, and the Zeitgeist prescribed a long-haired, flower-laden immersion into a sea of free love and psychedelic drugs in a consequence-free environment; and at last Rocky knew he'd found his niche. It is not entirely clear what convinced in 1975 Mr. Bjorn Tobey Aboxer to pursue a career in boxing and some have speculated that it was the zeitgeist pervading the Thrilla in Manila match between Ali and Frazier, but our man proved to be singularly unsuited for the fighting, a complete palooka, busting his philtrum on his very first professional joust, an experience which led him to quickly change course, to abandon training and to immerse himself in psephology in preparation for a new career in politics.
