An acquaintance of mine mistook a pretty young woman for a vacuous starlet when she was in fact a celebrated PhD in women's studies, and when he tried to purloin her attention by whispering impishly in her ear that he was captivated by her ‘toplofty’ silhouette, a turn of phrase he deemed a brilliant pun, she kicked him so hard that his talus was fractured and his mood sank to the most tenebrous depths for many months.

Later, as I was crunching my way through some loose talus that had accumulated in a tenebrous scree beneath the rock overhang, I mused sadly upon old toplofty Simmons, whose balletic hubris had only yesterday fallen foul of a fickle fissure, and wondered if I had somehow precipitated his precipitation by privily purloining his pointe pumps for my pending portrayal of an ugly stepsister in Cinderella.
