Following recent flash floods in Hackney, local settlement of the substrate layers beneath the road brought a parading cohort of refulgent Pearly Kings and Queens to an untidy halt, as first one, then another costermonger tripped and fell sprawling to the ground, buttons galore shimmering and coruscating in the afternoon sun.
