No panegyric of Marion Robert Morrison ever mentioned  that in his early years in Hollywood, he was seen as nothing more than a ghastly agelast because he worried constantly that his cowboy shot and epicene first name were insufficiently rugged or masculine, or that his adopted name, John Wayne, subsequently renewed his confidence, boosted his testosterone, and unleashed the charm and coquetry of many leading actresses.
