Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?

Attempts to resolve the Quandary:

Walking home from the movies, my friend could talk about nothing else but the paranoid zeitgeist of J. Edgar Hoover’s America and his felonious surveillance tactics, so I decided to treat him with douceur and not play devil’s advocate by saying that the times may have justified his actions.

Such was the nature of the religious zeitgeist in 1347 that a felonious monk named Bertram of Worms, having passed away some decades earlier, somehow came before the College of Cardinals in that year, to be considered for possible canonization as a saint (despite his having poured glue on countless birds during his lifetime); and though the Devil's Advocate in that particular case--Melbert, Bishop of Vichysoisse, a priest known for his wisdom and douceur--mercifully succeeded in getting the ungodly friar's case thrown out of court, 'twas still a close call.1

1 In an interesting footnote to this story, 'tis said that the jazz musician Thelonious Monk took his name from this infamous cleric, changing the "f" to a "th" in order to avoid too close an association.
