This icy Halloween was a bad time to be alate, particularly for a chicken-hearted trick-or-treater like Jenny, who passed the evening in a futile effort to shield her angel's wings from the graupel's stochastic assault.

Even though he was born alate, he was still chicken-hearted when it came to flying, and any stochastic element, such as a weather report predicting a bit of graupel, could keep him solidly planted on the ground.
