Attempts to resolve the Quandary:

The city council of Merrysville was interested in trying new approaches to education, but became somewhat concerned when the board of education avant-garde decided to hire a former fagin to retrain children with poor social skills and anxiety disorders to become happy kids who could engage in and enjoy idoneous childhood activities, such as gamboling in the newly fallen snow.

That disreputable fagin Rappaport is trying to represent himself as "avant-garde" because he "takes kids that are wasting their time gamboling and frolicking in meadows and puts them to work plying a useful, productive trade"; but filching "Alf" dolls and hawkin' 'em on the black market at three, four times their value is hardly idoneous work for a child of two-and-a-half, Your Lordship.
