Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?

Attempts to resolve the Quandary:

The ragtag group of grumpy gradgrinds gathered for a glorious gam but ended up excogitating a dystopian perspective that gradually geared them towards gratitude for the day they would go to their graves.

Rupert had excogitated his time travel device to focus on trips beginning with dates in the late 1700s, and set the dials to emerge in Victorian England, but walked out into a dystopia in the Horn of Africa – an area known in current times for its many contrasts: oil wealth and abject poverty; camels, steam trains, and jets – but as he wandered about he also encountered a policeman walking the beat who seemed to be Joe Friday, the gradgrind from “Dragnet”, and a group of ragtag sailors and whalers engaged in a gam of cosmic proportions, which included dancing the hornpipe and harpoon throwing contests, as well as ships in the harbor shooting cannonballs at each other and firing rockets into the night sky.

If you and your ragtag buddies think that while gamming the days away, you're going to somehow excogitate a solution to the inevitable dystopia that we are headed towards, you're going to have to stop being a such a bunch of cinical gradgrinds and start entertaining the more intangible positive forces at hand, such as the powers of love, optimism and sheer will!

In Mordred Fulcker's Moonlight Over Dystopia, a ragtag band of seven Pennsylvania midgets find themselves stuck in a grain silo, and with nothing else to do but gam on and on for days on end, they wind up excogitating the solution to all of life's problems--but then the silo gets switched on, and the poor little fellows perish, and with them go their world-saving ideas (let me make one thing clear: I'm fully aware that this book was pronounced "unreadable in the extreme" by that old gradgrind of a critic Boutros Boutros-Hornsby; but considering that Boutros-Hornsby was recently certified as legally insane by a board of court-appointed New Mexico psychiatrists, I think we can safely say his judgment may be suspect).
