Inspector Lestrade was in over his head – again, and as soon as Holmes arrived he snatched the book page with scribbled notes from the dead woman’s hand and began to expound, “Elementary, Watson, we already knew this was cribbed from an early 17th century manuscript, but we weren’t sure if the cacography was due to a man suffering forgetfulness as one of the natural effects of senescence; however, these egregious errors in the use of homonyms show us that this is the doing of one who is marginally literate – his lummox son.”

Whether the candidate's cacography was due to his advanced senescence or whether it was due to the fact that he was an easily flummoxed lummox, no one could tell for sure, but it was perfectly clear on the other hand that his latest speech was not entirely his own work and that he had shamelessly cribbed entire paragraphs from Ronald Reagan.
