Attempts to resolve the Quandary:

At the time, it seemed like a win-win choice, a point where my life would furcate, and I could choose to follow winsome Wyatt to his apartment and sit on his comfy couch eating snacks and playing video games all day long, or I could hop onto the back of Hellboy’s Harley and lead the shambolic life of a biker, staying in sleazy motels redolent with the odors of sweaty bodies, cheap booze and cigarettes.

Given the shambolic state of my bedroom, I considered it a win-win situation when the winsome Hoover Adams showed up and offered to suck my room clean with his legendary lungs (it was either let him do it, or face the wrath of my mother--and given such a clear-cut furcation, I wasted no time in paying Hoover's extortionist price: my prized "Stretch Armstrong" doll and four of my finest Garbage Pail Kid cards).
