A short, bald, pyknic-built woman was enjoying her evening (part ataraxia, part bourbon) after penning another devious chapter of her novel - part tall, tan, muscular men with 'baby dolls' and beaches with villas, part Hitchcockian machinations of a small, stocky nemesis (not unlike herself) devised against a lean tough detective a-la Dana Andrews.
