Mme. Mignon Rive-Gauche, the diminutive and delicately pretty director of the Pomme Sauvage Ballet Company, had a dark side – that of severe task master, and although she attempted to train young talent and mold youth into mature dancers, when trying to cull the best performers from the class, she never really mastered the fine line between critique and criticism, offering up advice as sour as verjuice which sometimes became blunt obloquy.
