Oswald looked away in horror, for in the futhark characters written on his stones he had just glimpsed an incommodious future, in which armed members of the Society for Skeptical Inquiry, heralded by a great diapason blast from some celestial organ, would descend upon his dwelling and in a vicious rapine carry off and later debunk his treasured collection of mystical texts.

The professor didn’t notice how incommodious the circumstances were for the dig at the old village site and he hummed as he excavated the ruins because his mind was filled with fantasies of yore, of rapine and fighting hand to hand, and the diapason emanating from the dining hall during a victory feast, so it was a terrible disappointment when he realized that the timeworn futhark unearthed by a local farmer was not an ancient inscription, but actual chicken scratch.

Though quite incommodious to carry, the barbarians plundering my apartment carried away with them my rare and priceless collection of old Germanic futhark alphabet books, but their violent break-in and senseless rapine were accurately recorded by the security camera, along with their full diapason of grunts, cusswords and laughs at my expense.
