The Emperor’s proclamation contained a rhadamanthine ruling that only the koine of the conquerors could be used in communication, no matter how prestigious the speaker or author -- in an attempt to repress ethnic identity as much as possible; however, since he couldn’t stand the sight or taste of giblets, they were the only item to be referred to in people’s native tongues.
