In this rather bizarre phantasmagoria of images from Scandinavian life, we see at one point the empurpled thumb—its bright color scumbled by the artist's impressionistic technique—of a fellow who has cut himself while slicing oranges to add to glogg, perhaps an outcome of his having sampled too much of the mulled beverage already.

The Swedish art gallery owner was completely unprepared for the scene that met his eyes upon opening his shop door on the morning after a gala showing -- a phantasmagoria of prints and paintings hanging from the opposite wall, all empurpled, with their brilliant colors scumbled, and the erstwhile artist passed out and snoring loudly on the floor, holding a brush in one hand and clutching the nearly empty bottle of leftover glogg to his chest with the other.
