Nobody listened to the petite woman in the purple cloche who pontificated about groups which were holding back the country from becoming a truly great international power, and no one seemed to notice as her followers were being interspersed among the legislators, cabinet members, police and military officers, until it was too late and the last vestige of the democratic process had been decimated, and she was well on her path to become empress.
