“Trust me”, the children’s museum curator said when I appeared dubious about choosing their “World of Dr. Seuss” theme for my son’s birthday party, but he had a tremendous amount of fun eating pink tamales and green eggs and ham while riding in a howdah on the back of a very cooperative elephant named Horton as part of a parade of fantastic creatures, which included a color guard armed with blunderbusses, dancing flag twirlers, and the Cat in the Hat as the drum major of the marching band.
