Attempts to resolve the Quandary:

The douce reactions of the attendees to this solsticial conversazione, along with the socially jaundiced, relict leadership, did nothing to move this group to take some sort of action before time and money ran out; it became a lost moment when something could have been done but was not done, perhaps due to some sort of seasonal affective disorder affecting the members which, okay, granted, is so common at this time of the year.

The three hikers, caught chest-high in snow after an avalanche, kept themselves in good spirits by holding an impromptu conversazione on the aesthetics of Winter, but when the discussion thinned, and Larry recognized himself as the sole relict from the frozen party, he experienced a crack in his normally douce demeanor and began to fear that, even ensconced in the majesty of Everest, he might be coming down with Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Stepping out of an ill-attended soirée into the gloom of a chill afternoon I bemoaned this latest forlorn attempt at promoting a local conversazione, doomed because our presiding relict, shrouded in misery and widow's weeds, grew ever more glum thanks to one contributor's insinuatingly douce harping on about his susceptibility to seasonal affective disorder, which - so he maintained - was the wintry cause not only of his but also of our grumbling discontent.
