The remarks made by the presidential candidate to the rising star in the culinary world of the cooking channel did not portend well for future success when his attempt to compliment the chef by saying the television show would “top the charts” came out as “chop the tarts”, which was a rather odd statement to make in the world of artisanal baked goods, and the candidate’s aides did not recognize the spoonerism in time for him to recant.

At a job interview with architecture firm ‘Alansirta’, I made an effort to appear interested and I confidently asked the recruiter “how long ago did Alan found the firm?”, but I had to quickly recant when she said that there was no Alan and that ‘Alansirta’ was a spoonerism on artisanal, an embarrassing misstep which did not portend well for my chances of getting hired.
