This cold blue iceberg, destroyer of my ship and now my life raft, would, because of its mythic size—an inselberg at sea—sail me safely to warmer climes if only I could survive the journey, and sure enough eight weeks later I found myself alive, the toast of Manhattan, my dilly of a story front page news, and, if it were not the uniquely skunky odor that attends a two month diet of rancid blubber flensed from the cutest of baby seals, I, without a doubt, would have made the guest list to at least one of the innumerable survivor parties thrown in my honor.

I'm so sorry, captain, that there will be no whales on view during this safari in the Kalahari Desert, and I truly regret that you misapprehended our brochure; however, I do know where there is a dilly of a dead hippopotamus behind that inselberg over there, and you are free to flense its carcass to your heart's content while the rest of us stay right here and have lunch, if you can stand the rather skunky fragrance of its "blubber".
