(with apolgies for leaving a word out of my first posting--my only excuse the copious amounts of scupppernong -like beverages I have actually consumed in this, the last day of my vacation):

Seven bottles of scuppernog into the evening my wife did not even try to disabuse me of my mumpsimus belief that a beautiful mermaid was in love with me, but, early the next morning when she mustered me, she seemed quite content at how aghast I was over her posting pictures of my rather amorous embrace of the wooden figurehead that adorned the prow of the S.S. Booze Cruise.

Miona and I were aghast at the conviction of Aaron's mumpsimus that scuppers are trash receptacles; but whereas I was too afraid of him to try to prove him otherwise, Miona mustered the courage to demonstrate how most garbage wouldn't fit by shoving a bottle of scuppernong in our boat's scupper.

Despite the name, my stubborn friend stuck to his mumpsimus that the scuppernong grape from the deep South was the one with which they make Muscat in Europe; I was aghast that he could muster the gall to harbor his delusion even after I showed him a bottle of Muscat indicating the grape's history in Europe and probable origin in the Middle East.
