The Blue Idol—the beyond—was the quaternary in Gauguin’s “Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?”; and, just I was immersing myself in the aesthetic and ontological wonder of the work, my ruminations were ruined by a wowser of a teacher dithering over how to explain naked girls and death to his horde of teenybopper charges.

Very much a wowser, Hector maintained a softness for teenyboppers nevertheless, and a desire to emulate them in his own secret crossdressing, so when it came time to castigate them for their prurient faddishness, he would dither and delay, trying to convince himself that their offences were not of primary or even secondary significance, but tertiary, even quaternary. Dr. Zweig, besides being a niggler, was a wowser of the worst kind; far from dithering on this issue, he despised what he percieved as engaging in any sort of sensual pleasure for the purpose of being "cool", and betrayed a hopelessly behind-the-times attitude when he used the term "teenyboppers" for the students of his whom he thought did so, even though some were approaching the quarternary year of their third decade.

After her first quaternary of drinks, she prudently dithered about tackling another four shots until the thought of being labeled a teenybopper wowser helped her decide resolutely that she'd rather be known as a teen-aged, hipster and boozer. (by Shortscribe)

The babysitter whom we had engaged for the evening was the youngest of a quaternary group of sisters and quite used to having her own way; when, seeing her exposed cleavage both front and rear, I gently suggested that she not show up for work attired like a slutty teenybopper, she neither dithered nor even paused, but shot back that I was a "lecherous, crypto-pervert old wowser" just like her dad, and stalked out of my house, slamming the door behind her.
