Brad was not interested in developing medical care algorithms, so he tended to malinger and avoid doing more than necessary at his job as a software engineer until a friend brought him along on a visit to the children’s hospital, where he noticed that many parents could not communicate well with the health care system because they were technopeasants due to poverty or lack of education, which motivated Brad to sashay into the boss’ office to demand that his company manumit those who were enslaved by their socioeconomic circumstances and unable to use a computer, and invest heavily in an educational outreach to the local community.
