It had been the discovery by Jasmine Juniper-Green of a couple of Boarding Passes for a recent round trip to New York in Larry 'Knickers' Lauderdale's cottage, in the names of Lauderdale and his 'wife' Christiane that brought about the break: Tartanair was a small budget airline owned by Quentin Ingmarsson and his brother Jamie which with an almost quotidian regularity flew parties of mainly men, with the occasional wife or paramour, to 'Explore the Underbelly and Secret South-side of the Juicy Big Apple!' and other, equally salacious short breaks; checks by Sayid, 'The Economic Migrant' in the manifests of the company threw up names which were either known about, guessed at or totally surprising – certainly many who normally flew First Class on the major lines were there as well as Politicians and prominent members of the Scotland's Three Estates: Clergy, Nobility and Wealthy Business class! and on a flight that very day, from Prestwick to JFK, Lo and Behold, Parlane Farlane and Dominic Day ("not the most imaginative cover-names," remarked the young Syrian Hacker from his under-the-stairs base in Drumchapel, but when Jasmine praised his skill in tracking them down he politely begged her not to forspeak him, for fear it might bring him bad luck, and she was struck that superstitions were still prevalent among young people whose knowledge and experience should, she would have thought, raised them above that, but then she rebuked herself for such froideur – he might be the best Hacker she knew, but he was still just a bairn) and it was the fastest ever warrant that came by return from Lord Linkumdoddie of the Court of Session, he being delighted that he could facilitate the sanction of such an authorisation and a chartered flight which soon carried Detective Inspector Bruce Bruse and Detective Inspector Gordon Brevity into the skies above the Clyde Estuary and heading into the Wide Blue Yonder!
