Columbine was rather enjoying the communication with Little Levy (not his Spirit's name, which was quite unpronounceable) for though their knowledge of each other went back beyond the beginning of this particular Universe, indeed to The Creator's first concept of such a thing, their paths had crossed less often in the past millennium – due to the increase in the Earth's (their usual allocated region) population, so that in erstwhile lives they may have been in different locations or in different epochs, and to find themselves so close in Time and Space was, as Columbine joked: 'Amitābha-sent!' but not wishing to indulge in sophistry, the next message to Little Levy's phone said: 'recently in Milan in 1496 and encountered a band of strolling players, including: Roxy Davidova, Peter Boo, Peter Lorre, Lesley Howard, Laszlo Licinic, Unity Mitford, Geli Raubal, Old Uncle Tom Cobley and all and thought your friends might like to know this' which, when Little Levy read it, sent his mind reeling: Roxy Davidova had been missing for some months and her seat in the Holyrood Parliament was still held in her name, but from that morning's Border Telegraph Levy knew that someone else had her sights fixed on it – a shameless hussy had just been elected to the Scottish Borders Council as Leader of the Unionist Party, only to announce that under the arcane form of Proportional Representation used for one part of the Elections to the Scottish Parliament, in her Party List for the South of Scotland she had been No 6 (a number which will resonate with fans of The Prisoner) which placing should have guaranteed that she would never be required to take a seat, but due to a recent resignation her number had – unfortunately for everyone in her Party and the Parliament – come up and she was grabbing it with both hands, with the steely gaze and claw-like talons of one determined to have Ms Davidova declared dead at the earliest possible opportunity upon which she would vault lithely into the empty chair; what could Little Levy do to prevent that? it was to be his First Birthday Party tomorrow but some things were even more important to a baby than his First Birthday Party – after all, the future of Scottish Democracy and even Independence could hing on this! so, knowing that Columbine would concur with him, Little Levy decided that he must Act with immediate effect, Birthday Party or no Birthday Party! Oops!!
