And in the cramped confines of the van, with the voice of Reichsführer-SS

Heinrich Himmler sounding rather tinny from the speakers as he continued to seduce the young girl, Elisabeth, and giving every indication of his determination to pernoctate with her until the wee hours, J Alfred Prufrock and Holly Martins exchanged glances, for their almost symbiotic ability to esemplasticise all the disparate grains of evidence into a cohesive theory had made them a legendary duo in the State Department, able to shine a floodlight into the most secret nooks and crannies of Mitteleuropas paranoid demagogues and dictators; but then Uncle Hans' eyes brimmed and tears coursed down his cheeks followed by the thwack of Holly's gloved right hand slapping him and raising a red weal beneath the man's left eye: "what was that for, Major Martins? are you turning into a Bolshie? too many vodkas with your contacts among the Soviets?" and Martins gritted his teeth, before replying: "no, Major Prufrock, but I've read this guy's dossier, he's a child molestor and I can't excuse that kind of thing, and when he started blubbing I just saw red, maybe we should just be done with him - permanently!" at which Hans threw himself at Prufrock's feet, beseeching him for mercy; and Prufrock struggled to keep the smile out of his voice, for sometimes the old Good Cop, Bad Cop act was just too easy, Hans was their creature now and it was just a matter of judging how best to use him for their own ends!

I just learned a disturbing fact when studying my family tree, that a distant relative spent time in a Bolshevist correctional camp where he was forcibly pernoctated with loud music and floodlights until his mind began to fail and he developed an esemplastic ability to see the Communist revolution for what it really was.
