Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?

Attempts to resolve the Quandary:

And so, instead of the usual Yuletide bavardage – the exchange of gossip, of who did what, with which, and to whom – Daphne and Maude found themselves discussing the whys and hows and wherefores of combining their resources with those of the Guggenheim twins to follow up on Maude's flash of inspiration: viz. that all the MacFarlanes and Doubledays whose nefarious and evil doings have peppered the history of almost every European nation over the past two millennia have in actual fact been just one of each, and that by using the Eildon Hills Cavern as a sort of railway roundhouse, they could enter from one direction in the Space/Time Continuum and exit by another; "which, of course is why," Daphne said, excitedly, they never seem to age, look at the evidence, Daphne, in Roman Britain according to Sam Smiles who actually fought and killed them, in Milan in the 15th Century, when Peter Boo and Laszlo Licinic encountered them, everywhere they go, they are the same age; in a Victorian Photograph, in Glasgow after the Second World War and in Berlin before it, in all of them, in Egypt, in Deadwood City, in Moscow and Petrograd, whenever and wherever the pair turn up, with different Christian names, they aren't branches of the family trees, or descendants, they are the very same people, what we thought were family likenesses is the very same faces, painted by Rubens or photographed in a studio in London, the same eyes, the same noses, the same mouths, the same people!" and Daphne tried not to be to hortative in calming Maude: "but do you think the Guggenheims can help us? after all, Sam does research like a dragline excavator, she scoops up whole shedloads of unfiltered dross . . . . ." and Maude interrupted: "but Ella's memory is even faster than Google! and she can spot the single nugget in Sam's skip almost before the dust settles; they are like us, dear, a team who, individually might be hampered by their own shortcomings, but together, just like us, they are the real deal!" and Daphne found it impossible to argue against what was so patently true: "alright, my darling, call them back and set up a meet, this week if possible, we can't afford to waste time – and I'm intrigued about this Maundy Gregory connection with the MacFarlane Baronetcy being restored – to a man who doesn't exist and will no doubt turn out to be Sir Parlane under another name, and of course, this would have been at the time that Passports had just become necessary and therefore proof of identity required, very different from the previous incarnations of the Devilish Duo!" and Maude handed Daphne a glass of mulled wine: "let's drink to that, darling!"
