"Hold ye'r tongues, ye scurvy, sleekit, slitherin, soft-spoken pair of larruppin land-lubbers, till I dose yese with a tincture of squid-ink," screeched Black-eyed Betsy Bromsgrovell, the nearest thing to a cook and ship's surgeon aboard the storm-tossed, rat-ridden, sail-less, rudderless, bilge-swilling, sea-going corpse of a ship that was The Black Barnacle at Jim and Jemima, twin nephew and niece of the Cap'n, Bendigo Protheroe, latitudinarian and devotee of the Plymouth Brethern's more severe Devellish Movement, who only beat children on Monday to Saturday unless there is a Full Moon, when they also beat them on Sundays because and only because Rest breeds Disrespect and we all know about the Devil and Wandering Stars, don't we, Girls and Boys everywhere, and I'll tell you what happens next, tomorrow, so Goodnight, Sleep Tight, Sweet Dreams from Auntie Cyclone, Uncle Thundershanks, and all at Broadcasting House, Glasgow and even Andy and Teddy are waving Goodbye! Goodbye! and Good Riddance!

I know a man, soft-spoken,
And gentle to a fault;
And latitudinarian
But he suffered an assault.
A bigot develled him so hard
That he was nearly dead.
I applied a healing tincture
To his body and his head.
