"Well," said Ludmilla, "we may get the grind, but Padawans we ain't," at which Jasmine heartily agreed: "you and me honey, are the backbone of this investigation, and Ludmilla sighed: "да, да, Товарич, I came from my study of ekistics in St Petersburg to work here for копейка, is enough to turn me into a большевик!" and her laugh turned into a coughing fit, which subsided and she was able to continue: "the Journal of Lady Griselda of Longformacus is writtin in a code – remarkably modern, it makes me wonder if she was ever КГБ, but hey, ours not to wonder why, huh? anyway I isolated certain characters and flocculated them with my new program and what do you think?" and Jasmine answered quickly: "she was in London in 1867 and 8?" at which Ludmilla gasped, and swore: "Блядь! how you know this?" and Jasmine filled her in: "well, sweetie, in the Edinburgh University Medical School Archives I found a scanned copy of the Diary of Dr Henry Jekyll . . . . ." and Ludmilla couldn't stop herself: "the Jekyll and Hyde man?" which Jasmine confirmed: "the real deal, and in May of 1868, Griselda, or Gracie Long as she was known at that time, told him and his Nurse, who was also his sister, Jessie Crimond, the story of meeting up with Tavish in the Lammermuirs, while they were fleeing from MacFarlane and Doubleday, unaware that Tavish had bludgeoned them both to death," and Ludmilla felt a shiver going down her spine: "maybe Tavish has татарский blood, да, that would explain much, I also find Griselda's account of the same thing, it was easy once the program identified her syntax and recurring vocabulary, but it is slow reading; do you know what happened to her?" and Jasmine sighed: "she moved in with them, but the diary is haphazard, for the most part discussing the progress of his experiments with various hallucinogenics and with less mention of Griselda, who also spent time with her friend Sadie and a young girl she called! Spotty Minnie Bannister, who seems to have been quite a skylark," and she could actually hear Ludmilla smacking her free hand to her forehead: "говнюк! SMB! and is Sadie SS?" which Jasmine confirmed as referring to Miss Siddons, and Ludmilla explained: "she referred to those two by their initials but I had no idea of their names; obviously Sir P is one of the MacFarlane incarnations and same with DD for a Doubleday, but there was also a Mr W, does your Товарищ Doctor mention him?" and Jasmine took a breath: "not by name, but I have a feeling that will be Walter, the anonymous author of a career of debauchery entitled My Secret Life!"
