Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 1054
chicanery, eddy, waif, indefatigable
Big Eddy (true to his name, carried along all his life by the currents that form when obstacles are encountered) had spent the last thirty-five years practicing lazy chicanery - cheating on his exams, his taxes, and now on his third wife - mistakenly imagining himself possessed of indefatigable cunning and resourcefulness until his polar opposite, the improbably waifish Detective Inspector Adamantine "Tina" Bolkonski, caught him sniffing up some white powder off the floor of the mini-mart and was able to put him away for seven-to-nine, largely by the expedient of failing to mention in her report that the powder had turned out to be dishwasher detergent, much to Big Eddy's disappointment.
