Quandary Resolution 1077
munich, titivate, cordial, ne plus ultra
After the success of Diaphanous Dainties (her lingerie boutique on 12th Street) and of Bonjour Tristesse (her formal wear shop), Marjorie opened Titivations, a shop where she sold upscale accessories (including scarves and the ne plus ultra of handbags from Hermes) at the opening of which, exuding real sophistication and fraudulent cordiality, she was able to convince both her customers and her competitors that she had no intentions of expanding her business any further - a necessary, short-term bit of deception she privately called a "Munich dictate".
