Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 1088
babylon, debunk, scour, pelf
In an incredible publicity stunt, the tourism council of Babylon, NY contracted a free-lance revisionist historian to hypothesize that this suburban town was the true capital of the ancient kingdom of Babylonia (mistakenly thought to have been a Mesopotamian endeavor), and although this claim was easily debunked by amateur archeologists in the ever-vigilant blogosphere, a few gullible souls did travel the Long Island Railroad to the historical den of opulence and corruption (so they yearned to believe), equipped with metal detectors and ready to scour the streets for ancient pelf.
