When aging Alastair could no longer scuttle about with his characteristic haste, he discharged his nervous energy on the couch instead, deliriously picking lint from his bedclothes, an endeavor well supervised by his wife who, always the henpecker, always on the qui vive for her husband's failings, would sometimes interrupt his carphology to tell him "You missed a spot."
