Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 1328
acanaceous, redound, olla podrida, bathos
White-skinned, black-haired Brendan had shaved his limbs in the hope of also shaving a few seconds off his time in the Men's 100m Breaststroke (in which he was competing primarily with the three Asians and single Native American in the international olla podrida now standing around the Olympic swimming pool), but way too quickly his pale legs had become acanaceous with black bristles that could be seen from the stands, a state of affairs that completely distracted the TV reporters who started using any excuse to focus on his prickly legs and arms and whose faux sympathy redounded adversely on their efforts to appear anything other than in thrall to comic bathos.
