Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 1429
fimicolous, incessantly, advert, hunky dory
"On the Emily Post Have A Nice Day Scale, would you say you were ’peachy’, ’dandy’, or ’hunky dory’?" Penelope asked her mother, who appeared increasingly irritable and restless as the dinner table conversation adverted once again to fecal matters despite her incessant efforts to change the subject; e.g., the current discussion of fimicolous organisms seemed to offer a golden opportunity to shift the emphasis from SHIT-EATING microbes to shit-eating MICROBES and thence perhaps to Penelope’s research on methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aurea, but nobody took the bait.
