Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 1566
spleenful, almondine, twee, mojo
Predictably, the children's TV show, "Teensy Flower Fairies in My Garden" was insufferably twee, making everyone all yeuky and squirmy (you could hardly concentrate on the presentation for all the scratching and shuddering!), so Victor used his considerable VP mojo and I used my mesmerizing almondine eyes on R. Manly Brunt's widow, Billie Jo, that spleenful old harridan, managing to persuade her to eighty-six the sucker and replace it with something less glutinously insulting to children's intelligence, which was quite a coup because she was a notoriously vainglorious woman who boasted that she was never wrong about children's programming and, as far as we knew, she had never before had a cheerful, matter-of-fact response to dissent of any kind.
