Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 1601
estival, gumshoe, liminal, incunabulum
Yes, our town's yearly Festival was estival, occurring in summer as it always did, but when the leading F was stolen from the welcome banner this June, leaving the banner's text in that liminal state between plausibility and incompleteness, angry residents postponed the celebration and called upon a noted gumshoe to find the thief--and this was to be but the incunabulum of a larger investigation, which would turn up dozens of similar orthographic subversions around town, all perpetrated, we would learn in the end, not by one agent acting alone, but by a well-organized insurgent group of defeated sixth-grade spelling bee contestants.
