Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 1648
macerate, kibitz, milquetoast, orthoepy
Although the scholar conceived himself as an authority on English orthoepy, he was too much of a milquetoast to correct an offending speaker in action, and so he would kibitz with the unstudied elocutionist, appearing to tolerate this person's sorry diction, seeming to macerate in their unclear speech, his own convictions seeming to soften as he absorbed the violator's very wrongness--but on occasion, he would erupt, slandering the vice of mispronunciation itself, cursing the very phenomenon of poor enunciation in a stream of swear words whose proper vocalization he had earlier researched and practiced.
