Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 1681
thimblerig, best boy, bona fides, degage
The stand-ins were giving a degage, almost apathetic reading of the street scene (they'd been asked to play a bunch of gullible bettors assembled around a thimblerig operator), but when the gaffer's best boy blinded them with a strobe light (accident or director's suggestion?), they questioned the 17-year-old intern's bona fides, his prior work experience, his steadiness of hand, even the moral character of his mom, and soon a lively brawl ensued, all caught on film -- a perfect street scene.
