Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 1931
misogamy, worsted, vanguard, trepidation
In contest for the frail Eglantine's fair hand Mr Pringle found himself unexpectedly worsted by his elderly lodger, a dour, reclusive celibate who for years had knelt only at the altar of misogamy but who now, finding himself yet again strapped for cash and momentarily in the vanguard of the old maid's confused affections, had in some trepidation redeemed from the pawn shop his deceased father's worsted wool suit, trusting that her impending dowry would more than offset the not inconsiderable expenditure.
