Quandary Resolution 1964
doole, gaudy, fossick, palpitate
Fossicking for mementos in the attic of his soon-to-be-sold childhood home, Walter felt a palpitation of joy, then of fear to see his mother smiling at him, right there, her hair in youthful braids, but when his eye turned to the gaudy frame around her fading face, a frame replete with gold paint and glimmering rhinestones, he sank into twice-doleful doole, barely muttering some inchoate thought about the flimsy inadequacy of photographs.
