Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 1981
majordomo, bell the cat, armistice, whilom
At the time when Whiskers first understood there would be no returning to the whilom armistice, and yet before he was ready to return to the chaos of outright war with the small, fleeting creatures who still tormented him, our feline hero dispatched majordomo Spot, five years the younger and thus fitter for such dangerous duty, to secure piezoelectric resonating collars—shrill signals of the antagonists' approach—around the necks of Mickey, Minnie, and their plentiful scurrying troops, then thanking his faithful servant for "belling the cat" as they say.
